Raymond James Irwin

Known as the Chief Champagne Officer, Raymond is the founder of Fizz Champagne and Bubbles Bars in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is on a mission to create a Champagne & sparkling wine revolution in California and beyond. RJI owns two pure Champagne bars in California and boasts a Champagne subscription club with more than 500 members.

He loves sharing not just the bubbles of Champagne with people but also the region. Raymond has taken 4 groups to the Champagne Region for a behind the scenes look. A sommelier, he has most recently been recognized for his efforts to Champagne by being knighted and inducted into the prestigious 16th century Ordre des Coteaux de Champagne.

What sparkling wines are you loving right now?

Krug Grande Cuvée is always my favorite. Barone Pizzini makes some of the best Franciacorta and then the gorgeous grower champagnes of Pascal Doquet & Stephane Coquillette are delicious.

What does sparkling wine symbolize for you?

Fizz, or sparkling wine, is about celebrating the moment, celebrating the day that God has given us. Every moment we are alive is a reason to celebrate. You cannot help but be happy when drinking fizz. Fizz truly symbolizes and embodies joy!
